2018 Volkswagen Polo Teased

The Volkswagen Polo has been around for quite a while—more than 14 million units have been sold since the Polo first launched in 1975—and it doesn’t look like it will be going away anytime soon. The 2018 Polo will mark the end of the fifth generation which launched in 2009, so now entering its sixth generation, the 2018 Volkswagen Polo is scheduled to officially launch this summer.

Spy shots have captured bits and pieces of the car’s design over the past few years, but now we have an official teaser video to go on. The new model will roll out on the MQB platform, known as one of the most flexible platforms in the industry. The MQB platform unpins everything from the upcoming Polo to the Atlas SUV. The new model likely packs in a number of advanced powertrains that put an emphasis on efficiency.

Rumor has it that electric and hybrid models could be available later on. A Volkswagen Polo GTI, a performance variant, appears to be in production as well. Rumors predict that a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine will power the new model.

It doesn’t look like United States drivers will be buying the Volkswagen Polo anytime soon, though. The subcompact car isn’t likely to launch in the United States this coming year.

We here at Gossett VW Germantown hope that the 2018 Volkswagen Polo will make its way here, though!
