From the food you eat to the home you make together, you only want the best for your family. A reliable and intelligent family vehicle is a big part of that equation, and with so many on the market to choose from, you may feel at a loss for narrowing down your choices. Fortunately, the experts at Parents and Edmunds have made your work a little easier by naming the new Volkswagen Atlas its Best Three-Row SUV for families in their 10 Best Family Cars for 2018 Awards.
“We are so proud to be named one of the 10 best cars for families by Parents magazine and Edmunds,” said Derrick Hatami, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Volkswagen of America, Inc. “The 2018 Atlas was designed and assembled in America specifically with American families in mind. Three rows of highly configurable seating with the latest tech features and Volkswagen’s trademark style and driving dynamics is definitely a winning combination.”
Among the biggest factors considered by Edmunds and Parents in determining the 10 Best Family Cars for 2018 Award-winners is safety. Only vehicles that have earned top scores from both the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety are considered in the running. The Atlas got a leg up on the pack with its exceptional third-row legroom, People First Warranty, and steering that Dan Edmunds of Edmunds says helps the Atlas drive like a much smaller vehicle.
If you want nimble handling, superlative safety, and no shortage of style, look no further than the 2018 Volkswagen Atlas — the superior choice for your family, available at Gossett VW Germantown.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) recently released its ratings for some 2017 models, including numerous Volkswagens. This year, six VW models earned a Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick+ rating.
The safest Volkswagen models are the Jetta, which earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating, and the Golf 4-door, Golf Alltrack, Golf GTI 4-door, Golf SportWagen, and Passat, which all earned a Top Safety Pick rating.
To be named a Top Safety Pick, a vehicle has to achieve a “good” rating in all five crash tests. In addition, it has to offer an automated emergency braking system for front crash prevention that earns at least an advanced rating.
This year, to achieve a Top Safety Pick+ rating, a vehicle has to meet all the Top Safety Pick requirements and offer headlights that have at least an acceptable rating for visibility.
“At Volkswagen, we strongly believe that the latest advanced driver assist technologies can be delivered without being in the premium segment,” said Hendrik Muth, Senior Vice President, Product Marketing and Strategy. “The IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK and TOP SAFETY PICK+ ratings awarded to a variety of Volkswagen models compliments our ongoing commitment to offering these features.”

The Volkswagen Golf R has always been a standout in versatility and style. But the 2016 Golf R has finally been recognized for its excellence. Automobile has named the Golf R to its 2016 list of All-Stars.
Automobile—a leading automotive lifestyle magazine—awards vehicles to this list every year based on style, class, importance, and desirability. This list is quite prestigious, and Golf R scored the honor being on it for the first time.
“Volkswagen Golf R wowed us with its potent performance on both road and track,” said Mike Floyd, Editor-in-Chief, Automobile. “But more than that, it’s also an incredibly practical package that can haul the mail as well.”
The latest Golf R is making strides from its previous models. It’s the most powerful version of the Golf yet, redefining the hatchback category. There’s space for five adults and significantly more trunk space than most sedans have. It boasts an amazing 292 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque without compromising its fuel economy with an estimated 31 highway mpg.
If you want to see for yourself just why it’s an “All-Star,” check the Golf R out at Gossett VW Germantown!
Volkswagens should never be underestimated, especially concerning their safety. And the brand proved this when the 2016 Passat was named IIHS Top Safety Pick Plus.
On the 2016 Passat, there’s new front and rear styling that has given it that top safety score. The mid-sized sedan received the top score of “good” across all areas of testing. These wins include the small front overlap crash, the most difficult testing area, as well as an advanced rating for front crash prevention.
The Passat earned the important “plus” by receiving good ratings in all crash tests as well as superior rating for front crash prevention. The new Passat’s front crash prevention system is to thank for these wins. Front Assist, a forward collision warning system with automatic emergency braking, is standard on SE models and above.
The Passat isn’t the only Volkswagon on the list of vehicle to the Top Safety Pick Plus List. It joins the 2016 Golf, Golf SportWagon, Golf GTI and Jetta. Clearly, Volkswagons are proving that they are made to be safe and reliable.
The title was granted to Volkswagen by RobecoSAM AG and based on evidence from a Dow Jones sustainability index.
Volkswagen was awarded high rankings in economical sustainability, social sustainability, and ecological sustainability. Each of these scores illustrates the company’s commitment to a better world.
“This distinction is a great success for the entire team. It confirms that the Volkswagen Group is well on the way to establishing itself long term as the world’s most sustainable automaker,” said Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn, Chairman of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft, in the press release.
